Chapter 274: Wouldn’t It Be Just Fine for Brooms to Fly!?

Given that we were greeted by Bennyboy upon arrival, I introduced him to Damsel Scarlet and then had him guide us to the planned plot of land. We came to an area with a lot of vacant land. The plot was situated away from the business district, but didn’t belong to the residential area yet. According to him.

“I thought that this place would make it easier in various ways. I mean, I’m not targeting walk-in customers, but people who come here with my shop as a goal! Oh, so far as it goes, I plan to build my own home next to the store, and I also intend to build employee housing behind that!”

Or so he said.

“That makes sense. Otherwise you could encounter issues with reimbursements and other stuff, if the neighborhood suffered collateral damage after your store got attacked by someone,” I agreed with his line of thinking.

I’m sure it’ll be much easier if you secure the surroundings with your own living space.

I handed tablets to Bennyboy, Sword, Plana, and Sahad.

“They’re still rough around the edges since we’re in the middle of development as of yet, but I’ll lend them to you since they’ll be convenient to have for the upcoming project. I’ll explain how to use them later on. For now, we’ll start with the blueprint I came up with.”

Once I displayed the design with a holographic image, everyone raised their voices in admiration.

“Whoa, how fancy! It totally feels like a store out of a land of magic!” Mr. Amato immediately commented.

“That is actually very lovely. It looks like a store you would be able to find in movies,” said Damsel Scarlet.

“It’s really awesome! This is totally going to fly!”

Bennyboy didn’t seem to be displeased with it either.

Only Sword whined, “Hmm. …I thought it’d be a lot more outlandish, considerin’ that your the one buildin’ this.”

Has he been looking forward to some sort of bug so much?

“I think I’m going to decorate the shop window with flying brooms. Or maybe I’ll go with fighting wands.”

Damsel Scarlet and Mr. Amato, the other two otherworlders in our little, merry group, received my suggestion quite well while Bennyboy seemed rather startled.

“Eh? Lady Indra, you can build things like that as well? Then I would love you to include them by all means!!” He shouted, exposing his real thoughts on the matter.

Plana and Sahad also exclaimed, “Yaaay! Nothing less of you, Lady Indra! I want to try building it together with you!”

“I want to join in as well!”

Seeing Mr. Amato and Damsel Scarlet rejoicing, Sword asked in surprise, “What? So did the other world have flying brooms after all?”

……Sword, why are you so hung up on flying brooms anyway?

“”No, not at all.””

Both declined decisively.

“But, this is a world out of fairy-tales, so it would not be strange for them to exist here, would it?”

“Yeah, I mean, they’re the standard for any fantasy world. Rather, I wonder why they don’t exist over here.”

When both made statements aligning with each other, the other people, who didn’t know about the other world, looked at them as if asking what they were talking about.

But, I agree with their opinion on this!

“I think so as well. Magic arts exist, right? Why can’t you fly in a world where fire and water pop out whenever you chant some spell? Huge dragons can fly around here, so even brooms fly!”

I received applause from Damsel Scarlet and Mr. Amato. On the other hand, everyone else was staring at me as if I’d gone mad.

Well, if you consider the power of science, it’d make the other world much of a place where everything can fly, wouldn’t it? I mean, it’s a world where people even went into space.

“Then again, the other world has seen people fly while riding metallic objects. Rather, isn’t it more weird for the other world to not have any flying brooms?”

Sooner or later someone might develop flying brooms through the power of science.

“Flying metallic objects!?” Sword yelled as soon as he heard my muttering.

“Lots of them, yep.”

“The sky is full of those.”

Mr. Amato and Damself Scarlet agreed with serious looks.

“Wow…,” Sword showed his admiration.

“Wait a sec, Mr. Sword, your own Char can fly as well, you know? It’s not made out of iron, but it’s still an object that can carry people while flying.”

Being told so by Bennyboy, Sword apparently remembered, “Oh, right. It can fly.”

So he forgot, eh?

Suddenly remembering something, I asked, “Come to think of it, Damsel Scarlet, can you use magic?”

She groaned, appearing hard pressed.

“……It is true that I specialize in magic arts. But, I cannot use it as freely as you can, Lady Indra. And it is out of the question for me to cast a spell without chanting. I’m fine with something at the level of life magic, but for some reason, my power output is too high…so I suppress myself from using magic as much as possible to avoid causing big damage.”

That was a statement you’d expect from a noble lady who got reincarnated as a cheat.

Mr. Amato agreed with Damsel Scarlet, “Yeah… I was also taught chanting back when I was still at the royal castle, but then I received basic training from Lady Indra. Her theories are way too incredible for me, so chanting is easier on me. As someone who experienced the harsh battle over university spots, memorizing things poses less of a burden.”

Really? Mr. Amato’s power seems like it’d be high because he’s a brave, but instead his magic is fairly weak. Then again, taking care of animals or monsters doesn’t really require a high magic power output.

――In the end, it looks like flying brooms are a story full of dreams in any world, regardless of whether magic is available or not. Sword is likely quite interested in it as well, seeing how persistently he questions me about it.

It’s set that I’ll create flying brooms together with Plana and Sahad. Well, in the worst case, it’ll be fine to turn them into toys that can be controlled with remote-controllers.

I decided that I’d use flying brooms as non-purchasable decoration for the window display.

“I’ll build a wine cellar and wine sales counter in the basement. I think I’ll use a futuristic style for that one. The storage will be integrated into the walls. So if you touch it, lights will go on inside and the drawer will open as if having been cut out of the wall without any seams being visible. I’ll use lots of glass and transparent material, and the displays will be decorated with wine bottles, making it look like they’re floating. I’ll set up an isolated sales counter smack down in the middle of the room. I guess I’ll also use transparent material for the staircase so that you’ll think you’re walking across air.”

Mr. Amato got hyped by my explanation.

“Ooohhh, that sounds truly awesome!”

Damsel Scarlet pressed a finger against her lips, looking as if she had suddenly struck on an idea.

“How about illuminating the steps of the stairway with lights as one walks across them?”

“Oh! That’s a great idea! I’ll adopt it!” I reflexively pointed at Damsel Scarlet.

In response, Damsel Scarlet chuckled happily.

“There was such a scene in a shojo game I played during my previous life. You would link arms with your romantic target and go down such stairs. The illustration was very dreamy.”

……I see. As I thought, you can get all sorts of references, if you have people with various types of knowledge around.

“……Somehow, it sounds like this will turn into something crazy.”

I felt like Bennyboy’s face looked cramped, but that must have been my imagination, yep!
