Chapter 273: Time to Design a Shop!

Now then, I guess we’ll head back to our base, pick up Mr. Amato――and while at it also Plana and Sahad――and head to the capital. I’ll draw the blueprints while having preparatory meetings with Bennyboy on the way.
Sword seemed super curious about what I was up to. After making Char automatically follow the ChaNon of the Taking It Easy members, he stared at my plans.
After a while he asked me with a serious look, “You ain’t gonna make a bug?”
…… It’s a building, man!
“A part of the security system will be supported by insect-like machines. They were called drones in the other world.”
“Oh, I heard ’bout those from Amato. They fly, don’t they?”
I nodded.
“What do you call bloodsucking, flying insects over here?”
“Huh? You mean somethin’ like Killer Mosquitoes!?”
That was apparently the name in this world.
“Then you can imagine it as something akin to those. They won’t suck blood, but their movements will be similar. I’ll set them up so that they can carry luggage and launch paralyzing shots to repel attackers.”
“……Let’s just hope it won’t be mistaken for a monster.”
“No problem on that front. Under normal circumstances, it’ll use optical camouflage…in other words, you won’t be able to see it.”
Anyway, I need to also decide on a name. I should also add it to the parallel processing system.

I let my imagination wander while humming a song.
“I’d like the shop to overflow with a fantastic and exotic atmosphere. Futuristic would be kind of boring. I’ll construct the building so that it’s going to brim with dignity.”
I’m pretty sure Sword would love a futuristic design, but it’d stand out like a sore thumb in the capital. Given that Bennyboy is probably aiming for the rich as customers, adding pillars and shelves with pointlessly elaborate carvings will go down well with them.
“Let’s use an arched atrium for the ceiling. The pillars will be the same as in the restaurant. I guess I’ll have paper lamps float at the ceiling. Also, a chandelier and… Oh, right! The stairway and some of the pillars will be lacquered!”
“I see…… Considerin’ it’s you we’re talkin’ ’bout here, that sounds rather ordinary.”
Sword commented, but whenever I make something unusual, he grinds my temples!
“Okay, I guess I’ll give the wine cellar and the wine sale counter a futuristic touch then. Such an unbalanced design might actually be quite fun.”
As soon as I said so, Sword’s eyes started to sparkle and he leaned himself forward, “What sort of style is that?”
“The core trait of modern design is functional beauty while not really thinking of functionality. It comes with a spaciousness that’s almost blunt and so little furniture that it feels unreal,” I explained to him.
First off, I’m going to heavily use glass or transparent boards, and decorate them with wine bottles. People are going to wonder whether the bottles are floating. Also, I’ll arrange things so that detailed, miscellaneous stuff won’t be displayed.
The color scheme will be a mix of white and gray, or metallic colors. The illumination will be set to show as little as possible. The counter for business discussions will be dreary as it occupies the center of the room. My usual fluffy sofas will be replaced by metallic stools.
“――Of course, the business negotiations won’t be recorded on paper but on a tablet. As a knockout service, drones are going to pick the ordered bottles from their shelves and carry them to the table!”
Sword pressed his fingers against his brows, thinking up an image of this.
“Drones carryin’ stuff sure sounds fun,” he said, apparently having been only able to imagine things up to there.

After getting back to the base, we picked up Mr. Amato and the other two.
“For the time being, we’re going to head back to the base after having had a few preparatory meetings with Bennyboy to process the materials, before traveling back to the capital to assemble all of it. This trip is for the sake of a preliminary inspection.”
We headed straight to the capital with everyone.
*
On the way, we further picked up Damsel Scarlet.
“I will have you let me use the store as reference to reform our mansion!” Damsel Scarlet declared with a rough nasal breathing.
“Please provide some ideas as well. I have already planned the design for the most part, but catering to Sword’s wish, I plan to use a futuristic style for the wine business room…in short, a SciFi interior design. …Having said that, there are limits to my imagination, too. I’d like you to actively voice it out, if you got some nice ideas.”
“Hmm, I can’t quite make heads or tails out of a futuristic style either. It probably uses lots of transparent material such as glass or acrylic, and the lighting is rather dim. Something like that?”
Yeah, okay, just as I thought then.
“Fully automated, and drones or robots serving the customers?” Mr. Amato added.
Sure, I planned for drones as well.
“…So you people came from the same world after all, eh?” Sword vacantly commented after hearing the two’s opinions.
I don’t know whether it’s the same world, but it sure seems to be a world with a similar environment.
