Chapter 271: I’m Going back since It’s Boring!

Sword’s trash removal apparently caused a racket over at the distant garbage dump, but we disregarded it.

“Boooh…I wanted to give him his final word after turning him to small pieces as punishment, but oh well, now it’s too late anyway.”

“He didn’t do any real harm to us, so no need to go that far. It’s your creed to wait for people to come back at you for revenge, isn’t it?”

That was…true, so I reluctantly nodded. However, I wanted to make him atone for the sin of having tried to become violent towards Ryoku and Shikibu.

…Apparently those thoughts showed on my face. Hence, Sword scolded me with a stern expression.

“Now listen, Ryoku and Shikibu are both fairly powerful. I’m tellin’ you to not use yourself as a standard for an enemy’s strength. That guy from before surely has reasonable ability, seein’ how he’s a B-Rank as a solo adventurer. But, you and I are leagues above him. Someday he might reach a level comparable to you and me, but at present it’s like he’s at the bottom of a huge mountain while Ryoku and Shikibu are close to the summit. Ain’t no way he can do ‘nythin’ to ’em.

Even the charge cows and cockatrices back at our base might look weak to you, but they’re basically beyond any ordinary B-Rank unless that adventurer invests quite some effort into subjugatin’ one of ’em. Amato got no problem bein’ teased when takin’ care of ’em since he’s a brave, but if a normal adventurer were to be on the receivin’ end of that teasin’, they’d immediately end up on the verge of death. And if they were unlucky, they’d croak then and there.”

……

Really?

Unwillingly, I admitted that I got it and gave up on the torture. Even though the reasoning for the torture itself was quite valid, I have to say…

So far, no person had tried to meddle with the Ryokus. Shikibu might have been targeted, but he closely resembles the Ryokus in appearance.

I pursed my lips and said, “Let’s leave this place. It’s boring if I can’t torture anyone, so there’s no reason left to stay here.”

“Don’t stay somewhere just for the sake of bein’ able to torture people.”

――Just as we were having such a conversation, the wireless communicator rang.

『Mr. Sword, Lady Indra, Benjamin speaking. Do you have a minute for me?』

Oh, Bennyboy.

“What’s up, Bennyboy?”

『I was thinking about setting up the store in the capital soon』

Hoooh, that’s perfect timing then. I’ve accumulated quite a bit of frustration, so let’s vent this by creating stuff.

We decided to head to the capital and have a preparatory meeting with Bennyboy. He said that he bought a plot of land in a place away from the capital’s business district. The plot didn’t have a store on it or anything. It was just a bit of land with weeds and even trees growing on it.

“I was planning to build the store based on your stylistic preference, Lady Indra! Please help me with getting an awesome shop similar to Bronko running!”

When I was asked in such a manner, I immediately felt like playing along, “Uh huh! Sure! So I got to design a retro + cutting-edge store, huh!? If you tell me your wishes, I’ll incorporate all of them!”

“Oh, I wanna join in on that as well,” Sword announced while raising a hand.

Apparently Sword had accumulated quite a bit of stress, too. That’s probably also the reason why he flung away that lamer adventurer earlier, which was fairly unusual for Sword.

I’d like to get Mr. Amato to participate in this as well, but having him go back to the capital is, well…

I guess I’ll get him to join in from back at our base by sending videos with his tablet. While at it, I should also try to reach out to Damsel Scarlet.

She might have some good ideas to add to the pool.

I sent messages to Mr. Amato and Damsel Scarlet. With a Ryoku Stamp attached.

Just to receive their replies instantly. Both said they’d be participating. With Ryoku Stamps attached to their messages.

“…Your not goin’ to give this to me?” Sword bickered behind me with a sulky tone.

He truuuuly loves his gadgets, doesn’t he!?

“I got it, I got it. Given that it’s in development, I had planned to give you one after finishing it up properly, but if you want one, I don’t mind giving you one earlier than planned. Please inform Mr. Amato and me, if you have any additional ideas for it. Because Mr. Amato’s job in the other world was to create the content of this, he’ll be able to make things for us to a certain degree.”

Sword became speechless, before finally squeezing out, “…Is Amato actually a really incredible lad? Comparable to me?”

“I don’t know whether you can actually compare it, but he’s specialized in making contents for this device here. I had a similar job too, but since the genre was slightly different, Mr. Amato should be better at it.”

After all, I was tasked with system engineering for companies. I’ve never programmed any games for the general public, except some very basic stuff, have I?

“…In other words, there’s loads of folk like you in the other world?”

Because Sword had asked while appearing somewhat stunned, I shook my head.

“No, there exist all sorts of occupations in the other world. Each of them is specialized. All of the work is finely divided and there exist experts for coming up with the ideas for the contents of devices like this here, for designing the contents, and for creating all of the various components required. Mr. Amato was an expert in creating the contents, but other people were experts in creating the tools required for making those contents.”

I mean, even my otherworld self doesn’t have a clue how to build an OS or program software. And when it comes to the way of making the CPU and other chips needed for the hardware, I don’t even know where to start.

Rather, this world is much easier to understand, I’d say. As long as you give the magic elements an idea of what you’d like to materialize, you can virtually make anything you want.

Suddenly Sword ruffled my hair.

“Hmm… Then your the truly amazin’ one, seein’ how you can do all of that, aren’t you?”

I was at a loss.

“……At least in this world. I’d need to throw the towel in the other world.

Without it being clear whether Sword had heard me or not, he muttered once more, “I see. As I thought, your much more amazin’, aren’t you?”

……Don’t repeat it!

I pretended to not have heard his words after he ignored mine, calming my horses.

Well then, let’s head over to the capital.

Mr. Amato had said, “I’ll go if you pick me up and bring me back later.” While Damsel Scarlet had exclaimed, “I want to participate, even if I have to stay absent from the academy for a while!”

Since it’s going to take place in the capital, let’s get Damsel Scarlet to join in by picking her up on her free days.

――With that out of the way, our future schedule was set, so we decided to quickly leave this town.

We visited the guild to receive the pay for the sales we hadn’t picked up yet.

…As we were dealing with stuff at the reception, a stir occurred and a voice that gave me chills became audible. After exchanging a look with Sword, we turned around, just to spot the guildmaster and the lamer B-Rank adventurer approaching.

“Hoh. For you to be able to move right after being flung away this far…you’re quite capable for a trashy B-Rank adventurer, aren’t you?”

As I admired his sturdiness, Sword casually explained, “I’d say he took a healing potion.”

Oh, I see.

Healing potions fix up things right away in this world, so no wonder he’s already back on his feet. Somehow, it irks me though.

“So he came here to get revenge right away? Quite the promising challenger, isn’t he?” I muttered while folding my arms.

Sword laughed in response, “Sure gotta be like that in your eyes. Even though you’ve been waitin’ no one has shown up so far. So this time it was worth letting him off, don’t you think?”

I nodded at full force.

Wouldn’t it be boring otherwise!? All those I let off the hook thus far should come at me all at once!
