“Your Excellency, congratulations on the creation of a new bloodkin.”

“What an auspicious event!”

“A kin with pink hair!”

“She looks like Solbeige, the Earth Mother Goddess said to live at the Spirit World’s Spring of Extreme Evil.”

I nodded at the Burning Knights, who had come up next to Rollodeen.

“You’re right.”

But, I guess I should tell her my name before deciding on her new one.

“My name is Shuuya. And the black panther next to me is my precious partner.”

“Nya,” Rollodeen also greeted her.

And then the pink hair of my new kin drew Rollodeen’s attention. But soon, her eyes were drawn by the small snails and slugs floating around my new kin. Her tail began to shake furiously.

“Rollo, you’re not allowed to bite them, okay?”

“Nyaa~”

Rollo soon started to fool around, ending up unleashing a barrage of cat punches against my hand in the process of her messing about. (T/N: Heavily shortened long paragraphs of cat nonsense, causing this part to become a lot shorter than it’s in the raw)

“Hehe,” my new kin watched Rollodeen’s antics with a gentle smile.

“…The black panther currently punching around is Rollodeen, my partner. Her pet name is Rollo. She’s quite excited at the moment, please try to get along with her.”

“Hehe, of course. I would love to become her friend,” she answered with a beautiful smile. “…Lovely Divine Beast Rollo-sama, I have been born as Shuuya-sama’s spirit kin. Please take care of me.”

“N, nya, nyaan, nyaa~,” she meowed what seemed to be a greeting of sorts.

“It sounds like you could make out Rollodeen to be a divine beast at a glance…”

“Yes.”

“Do you possess an appraisal skill or something like that?”

Upon my question, my new bloodkin placed a hand on her chest and replied, “It’s no appraisal, but I do have a skill called <Understanding of Sound Wave>.”

“Is that some kind of mana probing skill for reconnaissance?”

“Indeed. It is one of the abilities that has been gifted to the Wave gourd to begin with. It is a mana detection skill.”

That means it’s similar to Grasping Perception. But, I didn’t know that the Wave Gourd was endowed with such a feature.

That Time Tapir definitely gave me an amazing item…

Well, he must have felt indebted to me, seeing how he had been imprisoned in the 【Time Box of Glaass】 for a long time. Even at the battle during the night of chaos, he joined my side to fight against various demonic races.

Putting the thoughts about him aside, I asked my new kin about Rollo.

“…Did you acquire a sense of Rollo’s mana by looking at her with that skill? Did it tell you that she’s a divine beast?”

“It is not like I could clearly gauge her mana.”

“I see.”

Registering her skill as being similar to Grasping Perception, I nodded. It might be wind magic, though.

“Yes. Speaking of sensation exceedingly close to you, Shuuya-sama, would you allow me to add one more comment…I feel terribly sorry to speak out like this as a kin who has been born just moments ago…”

“Sure. No need to hold back.”

“Understood. As your kin I perceived Rollo-sama as a special, peerless and noble being.”

I can feel her on that one.

Next I introduced Higlia and the others to her. Higlia and Ryokline greeted her while acting very polite.

On the other hand, Jody and the squad of ancient wolfmen under Daon-san strengthened their wariness of her. The same seemed to apply to the holy guild alliance members who were protected by Helme. They didn’t come anywhere close to us.

As expected, the prime reason for that can be found in the sky.

Saraten and Itasha were still fighting the sword spirits and their illusionary animals. Saraten freely soared through the sky while dragging along Itasha like a suckerfish. They were completely engrossed with hunting down the sword spirits and their animal companions.

The girls dancing on the three blades of Saraten seemed very happy. They had to be quite delighted about having gained a cute weasel kin. They were frolicking around while holding small, magic shields.

Suddenly Saraten stopped moving, squaring off against a big illusionary bear. That bear had something similar to semi-transparent wings on its back, and a sword’s point was protruding out of its thick chest.

Saraten targeted the sword spirit coiled around the bear. Itasha apparently followed Saraten’s lead.

『Take a good look at my outstanding movements!』, Saraten instructed Itasha.

While leaving a blue trace in the air, she drew several arcs in the sky, just turning around in the next moment. She was guiding Itasha. And as if matching that timing, she unleashed a sword thrust technique. The big bear got stabbed from all directions by four blades. The sword flashes, as blue and silver traces overlapped, looked pretty.

The huge bear became riddled with holes in no time. Its flesh got turned into minced meat without a single bone remaining in one piece. What used to be a bear body now appeared as if a vise had clamped down on it hard.

Saraten wolfed down the flattened flesh and blood. Itasha also extended her cute sword from her chest in an adorable manner, absorbing the pieces of flesh and drops of blood spilling over from Saraten. Itasha and the three Saraten blades gleamed up, before the glow vanished as quickly as it appeared.

But, it seems like the mysterious light occurring when you acquire a skill.

Thereupon, after seeing that light, the sword spirits took an action different from before. A zanbato-like, rugged sword spirit suddenly appeared from the crowd of spirits with a heavy bass sound.

That sword shouted at Saraten’s group with a throaty voice (despite having no mouth), “Sol ha gul! Bophogae, ramajuzz, aah! (They are dangerous! I will defeat them!)”

The voice was loud and powerful enough that we could hear it all the way down on the ground. That zanbato didn’t have an illusionary animal with it.

A shadow possessing fishy, rich mana appeared from the lower part of the hilt, swaying. It was an extremely dodgy shadow. That shadow had huge elk antlers on its head and a unicorn-like, spiraling horn extended from its forehead.

But, it was just a head. Kind of like an illusion, I guess?

Even so, it was a black, broad greatsword. Just looking at it reminded me of Spirit World Sebdola. Though I don’t know yet whether it’s related to Sebdola…

Suddenly, a black flash was created on the surface of its blade. Things similar to veins spread on the blade at an astounding rate. At the same time, the blade itself expanded abnormally, causing the sword to become thicker.

It turned into the spirit of a demonic greatsword…reminding one of a dragon slayer. It had a color as if a sheen of paralyzing poison had been spread on its blade.

Overall, it reminded me of the huge sword wielded by Schmihazar. Maybe Adombrally will be able to transform into such a huge sword, once he evolves.

It does look strong, and I feel like it might be nice to enslave it, but I already have Magic Sword Beet which is devoted to Dark God Rivograph. And Rivograph is one of the main gods possessing enough power to have been recorded in the God’s Picture Scroll of the SPirit World Sebdola. Moreover, I also got Murasame blade – the futuristic light sword making me look like a Jedi knight.

But just as I stared at the demonic greatsword spirit…

『Saratyun-samaaa』

Uoh!? A completely unexpected voice. It sounded in my brain like the weird squealing of a baby. Maybe this was Itasha’s voice?

Once I looked at Itasha, the weasel was preceding Saraten.

『Itasha! Don’t get ahead of me!』, Saraten ordered telepathically with an outcry that sounded unusually cautious. The girls on the three-split blade of Saraten overtook Itasha.

『That sword is different from the others! I shall take it down!』

She rushed through the air at a terrifying speed.

『Take thiiiiis』

“Holy Sword Saraten, you’re cool!” Helme praised while protecting the alliance members.

But sure, Saraten cutting through the sky in a straight line like a flash does look awesome. You wouldn’t expect anything like that from a fallen holy sword.

However, the greatsword spirit responded to that by releasing a dark flash from its hilt. Then it changed the angle of its blade, trying to intercept.

Just as Saraten had warned Itasha, this spirit might be an especially strong type even among the sword spirits cluttering the sky.

Even so, Saraten’s accelerated sword technique was ridiculously fast. The greatsword spirit didn’t even have the time to change its angle before Saraten’s point hit its middle part.

The instant Saraten struck the blade, a dazzling flash was released, and a scream converged into the center of that light. The greatsword spirit was broken right in half and then exploded grandly, scattering its fragments in all directions.

The splinters struck the other sword spirits and their illusionary animals. They even rained down on the ancient wolfmen.

“Watch out! However, those are mysterious splinters! Pick them up after dodging them!” Daon-san instructed everyone.

“I will help as well,” Jodi collected the fragments stuck in the ground while nimbly avoiding them with bee-like movements.

“Yes! Moon Ring Squad, stepping forward!”

Following that group, the other squad leaders also raised their voices. The platoon members were fast. While constantly evading the splinters, they picked up the ones that stabbed the ground.

Is it okay to touch those fragments?

Well, the wolfmen seem fine, so I guess it works.

“Please leave it to me!”

My new kin swung her slender arms while cladding herself in mana. I nodded at her, indicating my consent with leaving things to her.

Thereupon, a part of the tiny snails and slugs floating around her headed away to the splinters which fell down. It’s a remote control ability of my new kin, huh? Well, it’s not like she actually steered them herself. They’re more like standalone systems, I guess.

Those tiny snails and slugs spat mucus from their mouths and shells. The mucus spread in the air like a film, forming a defensive layer.

The splinters raining down on the defensive layer amounted to a huge number because the spirit used to have a huge blade. But, strangely you couldn’t really hear any impact sounds. Instead, the splinters hit the film and bounced back as if having bumped into something elastic.

Nevertheless, a part of the defensive layer got torn. The splinters accomplishing that were engulfed by black mana.

They drew my interest and thus I summoned Baldok into my right hand. I thanked my kin for protecting Higlia and the others rather than protecting me.

Then I jumped up powerfully, using <Magic Hand guided by Thought> as a foothold while dashing across the sky. I headed straight for a fragment with a strong presence of black mana after it broke through the defensive layer.

That particular fragment was rectangular. I grabbed it with my left hand, sensing its mana. It felt suspicious, so I stared at it very closely.

Maybe this used to be the hilt? It was an old-fashioned square with a round depression in its center. A small dot-like hole, which was releasing black mana, could be seen at the bottom of the depression. Gouges radially expanded from that hole.

Is this some sort of socket to insert a round gem or something?

Furthermore, a faint mana light was running through the gouges while blinking. Did this square survive because it separated from the greatsword?

The instant I landed while wondering about that, the Spear Book of the Demonic Night Parade at my hips reacted. The drawing of the demonic knights started to gleam. And immediately following, the three-dimensional jewel sucked up the black mana from the rectangle hilt.

The black mana winding on the curved glassy surface of the ruby increased. At the same time, the characteristic magic spears held by the knights blinked and bulged as if bending slightly. In addition, blood gushed out of one knight’s wound, who had lost his arm.

All of this wasn’t reflected in the real world, but it looked strangely realistic thanks to its three-dimensional nature.

Suddenly you could hear a thumping from the Spear Book and the eight magic spears in total all released flashes of light.

At once, several arrowhead-shaped, magic characters surfaced in my visual field, just to sink into me. Those characters encroached me. Everything became black in front of me.

The scenery bent and I got hit by something similar to a light spell of dizziness. My brain shook lightly; kind of like the mental attack I received from Steertop.

Illusions of Spirit World gods or demonoids, who held spears, appeared in my visual field. And on top of that, I could hear muffled voices, as if they were passing through a wall, which started to gradually become more clear.

『It’s the Strange Rock of Yama!』

『Offer it to us, the Gundail Brothers』

『Give it to me! And destroy the Great Tomb of the Eight Peaks!』

『It’s me, right? I’m gonna burn ya!!』

『No, I am the one suited the most…』

『You cheeky magic spears』

『The same applies to you as well, you fool! Also, it’s only appropriate for me, the bearer of the Lightning Flame Spear, to possess the Strange Rock of Yama!』

『A weak woman that has been defeated by Illusionary Evil probably won’t draw much interest from the new user of the Spear Study…』

『What was that!? Geezer, I’m going to butcher you by making you eat divine magic stones!』

At that moment, the chimes of bells could be heard, and my visual field returned to normal. Simultaneously, Baldok growled.

It looks like the contents of that Spear Book are anything but normal. But, right now I’ve got other stuff to do, so I’ll have to postpone it.

I quickly stored the hilt away in my item box. It seems to be called “Strange Rock of Yama”…

As soon as I put it away, the Spear Book of the Demonic Night Parade stopped shining, and its surface returned to normal.

And when I looked at my new kin, she said, “Hehe, it is great that I could contribute to you right away.”

The others haven’t noticed the things going on with the Spear Book. It looks like I was the only one experiencing it.

On the other hand, Saraten and Itasha were devouring the splinters. I also spotted Jody taking bites while collecting the fragments.

“How terrifying, that cannibalism of swords…” I muttered.

Meanwhile Daon-san was paying attention to my new kin while collecting fragments. His face was grim. And although I think he knows she’s my kin, it looks like he doesn’t feel safe yet.

The alliance members had gathered around their leaders. Helme, who had been protecting them, preached something to them while scattering water and smiles in the vicinity.

Don’t tell me…she’s not spreading the Helme faith, is she? Anyway, now’s the time to decide my new kin’s name.

“About your name…how about Lisana?”

“Lisana…,” she muttered.

Her light blue eyes seemed to change slightly into a deeper shade of blue. The silence continued for several dozen seconds.

Maybe she doesn’t like the name?

I let my eyes wander to Higlia and Ryokline as if asking them this with my eyes.

Higlia rejected me with a 『Don’t ask me』 look, and Ryokline also answered with a 『I shall refrain from commenting』 look.
