Translator’s Note:
Heyas folks,
the other day I stumbled upon this fun R-18 novel and binged it in one go. It’s one of those survival stories with an OP MC, but the group dynamics and novel systems are interesting and fun to read. It’s also rather lighthearted, compared to the other stuff I usually translate, so it makes for a nice change.
Currently there’s 66 chapters and the author is releasing a chapter every day. Usually I only pick up web novels with at least a three-digits in chapters, but seeing how I want to stock up on this one anyway, it’ll be nice to get started early while the author blasts ahead.
Have fun reading!

『What Would You Take if You Could Take Only One Thing to an Uninhabited Island?』 was written on a blackboard.
――Ah, I see. I guess this is a dream.
Sometimes you’ve got those dreams where you notice that you’re in a dream, right? Today’s dream is just like that.
Chairs and desks were lined up inside a pure white space, and all my classmates from 2-A were present. No floor, ceiling, windows, doors, or even walls could be seen anywhere, and yet a blackboard was in this space.
“What’s this?” “Our classroom?” “Wait, it’s way too white for that, right?” “…A dream?”
My classmates reacted in various ways, but all of it was awfully real. Every single one of them was speaking and behaving as they normally would. It wasn’t unusual for a character and the nature of their relationship with you to be completely different, even if acquaintances appeared in your dream. Still, this one seemed to be heavily grounded in reality.
“Sou-kun, what would you do?”
The one who came all the way to my desk was my childhood friend, Iyama Chiyu. Her white hair reached down to her shoulders, and her eyes were as blue as gems. She was somewhat small, but her chest exuded a stunning presence.
She didn’t really show her emotions on her face, but in reality, she was a girl who liked to make jokes and kid around. We’ve been friends since kindergarten, and even now that we’re second-year high-school students, we’re still as close with each other as we were in the past.
Kuno Sousuke, that’s my name. And because of the Sousuke, she’s been normally calling me Sou-kun.
“…Your boobs are big even in my dream, huh?”
Given that it’s a dream anyway, I said something I’d usually avoid out of delicacy. In response, it earned me a look that was obviously frosty, despite her expressionless face, just like the real Chiyu would do.
“Lecher.”
“S-Sorry.”
An apology reflexively left my lips. I was having trouble with how to act here because this dream was way too realistic for my taste.
Maybe it’s better for me to focus on acting as usual.
“U-Umm, so, you meant the blackboard, right?”
“Yep. What would you take?”
Well, it’s a topic you often encounter. At least, it’s a sort of hypothesis you’d encounter several times if you live through your teens. There are other such hypotheses with a similar tune, such as what will you do if you win the lottery, what do you want to do if you’re reborn, which celebrity would you like to date, and so on.
For the time being, I’ll check out what my classmates chose.
“A smartphone needing no charging, right?” “Ah, I can totally see what you mean.”
“An insect repellent, maybe?” “Oh, then I’ll take a sunblocker.” “Ahaha, then ya also need a swimsuit, don’t ya?”
“An airplane. You can get on it and fly back to Japan.” “And you can actually fly an airplane…!?”
“Cola.” “Oh, great. I’ll bring some potato chips, so we can share stuff.”
“A fishing rod. I mean, securing your food matters.” “Mmh, then I’ll go with a harpoon. I wanna do a 『Got’one!』.” 1
My classmates voiced all sorts of ideas that crossed their minds.
Well, since it’s just casual chatter, it’s not my place to butt in, but I wonder whether they’re really okay with what they said, if they can choose only one thing. Then again, some folks also look like they’re thinking about it properly…
For example――
“A lighter.”
Making a fire is much more difficult for an amateur than you’d expect, so it’s extremely helpful to have a lighter during the initial stages of being stranded. It gives you the option to learn how to make a fire until the fuel in the lighter runs out.
Someone also brought up matches, which are similar in nature.
“A gun, I’d say.”
Going by the assumption that you’ll also need to fight other people, it might be useful as a tool to exert power. But it comes with various points of worry, such as the marksmanship of the gun owner, the type of gun, and as well as the type and number of bullets.
For example, you’ll run out of bullets with just six shots when it comes to a revolver, if you don’t have any resupply. I also feel like it’s not that important to be chosen as the sole thing you can take with you. Having a weapon in itself could possibly serve as a deterrence, but if you encounter beasts, you could run out of bullets in no time. No, in that case, you’d use another weapon?
“A knife. It’s a utility item on an uninhabited island.”
This would be the standard among standards. Some guys also brought up survival knives and machetes, but I think all of them are quite useful.
I’ve heard stories about making a blade out of stone, but I don’t think that’s anything an amateur could handle easily.
“Pot.” “Tableware.” “A fork. It’s good for eating and stabbing!”
I can understand their feelings on this, but all of these don’t register as overly relevant for me. I’d prefer to prioritize survival over living like a civilized person.
After having heard all sorts of opinions, I finally answered my childhood friend’s question.
“I’d take with me…”
“…Yes?”
“――a Crafting Ability, I think.”
“…That’s…acceptable?” Chiyu looked at me scornfully.
