Chapter 335: Party Floors

The sixties featured stylish, groovy corridors. The fifties had stylish rooms, but this place didn’t lose out in design either.

“This place is decked with furnishing that would require you to pay in platinum coins, if you broke them.”

Upon my comment, Sword looked all around him and shrugged his shoulders.

“We won’t be told to reimburse ’em, right? ‘nyway, let’s go.”

Sword quickly walked ahead, paying no further attention to the furnishings. I followed while gazing at the things around me.

“Enemies have appeared!”

This time we encountered an enemy in the corridor! Moreover, it was yet another humanoid monster.

………But

“This place feels kind of like a haunted house, huh?”

Skeletons had shown up. Moreover, they were dressed quite stylishly with some wearing suits and others wearing dresses.

I looked up to Sword, “Sword, humanoid monsters have appeared. You okay?”

Even though I was concerned about him, he answered while looking fed up or disdained, “…It’s not that I’m bad with humanoid monsters. I’m bad with humans, okay? Do you understand? Those things aren’t human, no matter how you look at ’em, are they?”

Bah, the puppet soldiers weren’t humans either, though. But, it sounds like some sort of distinction exists within Sword. He chopped up the skeletons without any hesitation.

Still, haunted floors…I wonder how we should clear those. Hmm. It’s not like they’re scary, though.

…As I was brooding about that, we were constantly getting attacked by fancy skeletons.

“Hmm, when it comes to horror, the floors with the insects were much scarier.”

Though I don’t try to recall them because I don’t want to.

“Sure, sure. Now let’s hurry up and get through these,” Sword retorted while chopping skeletons left and right.

We continued trashing skeletons as we advanced through the corridors, but we didn’t find any other gimmicks. No wait, I think we’re just misunderstanding it as there being none. I mean, the lower floors simply had so many.

Suddenly a decorative vase caught my eyes. Come to think of it…just now I recalled something.

I’m going to try something real quick.

*crack*

I broke the vase by throwing it on the floor. In response, an angry wraith showed up.

Watching me slash the wraith in one stroke right away, Sword became appalled.

“…What did you do this time? Didn’t you say that those vases look expensive?”

I explained, “I just attempted something I had remembered a little while ago. If you run into such vases and break them, you’ll occasionally receive coins and other treasures. I guess a monster came out of this one here.”

Sword immediately retorted, “We’re not particularly hard-pressed for money, right?”

…That’s right, but still…!

But since only angry wraiths appeared as punishment for breaking vases and furnishings, I stopped it.

The enemies became fancier the further we advanced through the sixties. And some even started to attack us while dancing.

“Quite the cheerful enemies. Maybe we should also attack them while dancing?”

I tried to imitate the skeletons by performing dancing steps.

“…Tell me, why are you tryin’ to make each n’ every little thing so complicated?”

Sword caught me and ground my temples.

“That’s what you call going along with the mood! It’s crucial to be open to new influences in order to enjoy life! Yeeaaaay!”

“What’s up with that last word? It sounded like the eerie groan an undead would do.”

Party people seem to spook him out.

Given that the stylish skeletons attacked us in elegant ways, we should respond in kind, was my claim. So I will act as a role model here. Let’s go with kung-fu.

“Sword, do you have two swords? Please lend them to me.”

“How unusual for you to ask.”

I borrowed the blades from him to have some fun. Their shapes were different from the weapons usually used for this, but whatever.

While dancing with these, I tried to fight our enemies.

“Heeh, that looks pretty nifty.”

Sword looked at me full of admiration.

“Want to try it as well?”

First I taught him the basic dancing steps.

“It’s cool if you pause at the top of your swing. You can also add variation by moving fast or slow. Since we can cut the enemies without using strength anyway, focus on flexible wrist movements.”

“…I’m not that powerful, ‘kay? Sometimes I can’t cut ’em without investin’ some strength into it, you know?”

Or some such he said, but that’s him being modest again. I mean, he immediately imitated me, allowing him to cut the enemies while swinging the blades around. All without using much strength.

“…You always become humble right away. That’s no good, okay? Be more positive about yourself!”

“Wrong. I’m just sayin’ to not lump me together with you!”

…Once I scolded him, he left me behind…

Each time we climbed to a new floor, the boney dancers and their outfits got upgraded. Sword went along with this as well, exhibiting such a good dancing performance that I felt like retorting, 「You never learned this before, did you?」, while cutting down the enemies.

I didn’t learn it in this world, but since I know it from the other world as memory, I could pull it off, you know?

While rapidly slaying skeletons, we soon arrived in front of the boss room.

“……For real?”

There was a reason for Sword muttering that. Instructions had been put up in front of the door.

『Please enter in pairs』

Hmm, it does feel like a genuine ball.

“Okay, Sword and I, the two Ryokus, the horbs in pairs, and the remaining horb paired with Char…”

Haaah!

All looks gathered on Mini Mini Knight Armor Boy. Armor Boy stood stock still, looking dumbfounded, but then he pointed a finger at me as if asking, “What about me?!”

………

After looking at me with a troubled expression, Sword said to Armor Boy, “You take shelter inside Char for the moment. I’ll let you out once we’re done here…”

*shooooooooooooock!*

He let his arm, which he was pointing at me, powerlessly drop with a depressed mood.

Ugh……

“………No, it’s okay.”

I quickly picked up Armor Boy and handed him to Sword.

“You pair up with Mini Mini Knight Armor Boy. I’ll go by myself.”

“Huh? I mean…”

Sword pointed at the instructions, but I faced the door.

“Open the door! I can sing and dance by myself! If you wish to see the dance and listen to the song of a 【Diva】, then open this door!” I declared.

Sword became flabbergasted.

“…Get real. Somethin’ like that won’…”

*creeeeaakk*….
