And with that said, I secured a batch of staff for my stall. I’ll leave its management to them.

They’ve quickly learned how to handle the register, they know about the market prices, and they’ve got plenty of experience as they’ve been working all over the place, so I don’t need to worry about entrusting them with the stall.

…Rather, why couldn’t they find a permanent job despite being so experienced at working?

“…In my eyes, you guys are quite experienced, so I’m honestly baffled that you didn’t manage to secure yourself a stable job. Are you possibly hiding some sort of major flaw from me?” I asked them.

They froze in surprise and then looked at each other.

“…Eh? Is that really the case?”

“We’ve never been told anything like that before though…”

“We’ve simply never done anythin’ besides daily employment. Whenever Leemon went like, 『Oh shit. This place is going to be really bad, so it’s about high time to leave』, we simply quit and moved to another place.”

Their leader pointed at himself with his thumb, “Or rather, we’re adventurers, you see? The others just forgot all about it! How to put it…all of us have a crucial flaw for adventurers…we have no skills to fight monsters. But, we’re still adventurers!”

That’s way too much of a flaw, isn’t it? Well, low-ranking adventurers are like day laborers anyway, so yeah.

I nodded with a grave expression, “I see. …It looks like you guys got some complicated circumstances going.”

“””””No, not at all.”””””

I’ll pretend that they do!

“Very well! In that case, you’re stall personnel from now on! For the time being, you’re going to accompany us on our adventures. When we get back to our base, I’ll find you another job, but we won’t be returning any time soon. After wandering around the bay for a while, we’ll decide on our next destination, and only once we start to run out of provisions, we’ll head back. Fundamentally I’m an adventurer. I didn’t head out to hunt monsters this time for the sake of running the stall, but if possible, I want to experience thrilling adventures!”

Having listened silently up until then, Sword ruffled my hair.

“But you know, even if you were to come along, the monsters would stay away, right?”

………

“Uugh…”

I hate this! I totally hate this! I also wanna do something adventurous!

On the next day, after the adventurers we got to know yesterday arrived, we decided that we’d pick out some suitable clothes for them (five pieces per person) and a load of outfits to be donated to the church.

Once I told them that they should go and buy the clothes since they appear to be good at such stuff, they happily obliged.

Their adventurer party had the incredible name of 【Taking It Easy with a Smile】.

No wait, it’s actually good, isn’t it? I mean, it’s a party name immediately telling everyone that they’re living in such a way.

But, now that I heard it, I became uneasy about leaving things to them.

The seventeen-year-old girl called Leemon has a skill that gives her luck when it comes to encounters and work. It apparently allows her to discern whether a job seems profitable or is great, but it doesn’t influence whether she’ll get hired or not.

Their leader is an eighteen-year-old boy called Hassa who’s introduced himself as Leemon’s big brother. Or rather, all the Taking it Easy members seem to be relatives who are close in age.

That’s why they all got a similar atmosphere to them, huh?

They’re a group of three men and two women, and moreover, all of them are at a marriageable age. But when I asked them whether that led to friction (especially in regards to the relationship between guys and girls), all of them waved it off.

“You have to remember that our party consists of cousins and siblings.”

Hmm, I guess incest or relationships among people with a thick blood tie are also shunned in this world, huh?

Hassa taught me the reason why they became adventurers.

“In the first place, we formed a party and left our hometown since we couldn’t find any partners over there.”

Oh, so it’s actually linked to searching for a spouse.

“Given that registering as an adventurer comes with many conveniences, we did just that, but we’ve been basically looking for spouses while doing our day work. Just people think we really failed as adventurers since we’re only doing daily work, I suppose.”

Hrmm…is that how it is?

Or rather, these guys are a truly carefree bunch of people, seeing how their party name clearly reveals their attitude in life. They’re dreamily waiting for spouses to show up, kind of like letting a fishing line in the water without any bait and then hoping that you’ll be able to catch something eventually.

Even a sleeping princess cannot afford to wait for her Prince Charming to show up, and must grab a guy for herself!

But when I preached to them with that line of argumentation, they vaguely answered, “Hmm… Well, that’s how life goes, right?”

…Okay, whatever. It’s better for me to not dig too deep.

After all, I’ll be fine as long as they work for me, even if they miss their chance to marry. I’ll at least guarantee them their necessities of life.

Once Sword came back, we took the clothes I had Leemon’s party buy, and we went to the church together. As it looked like the orphanage was located behind the church, we headed over.

“Ah! Bro!” A small child shouted as soon as it saw me.

“Call me sis,” I corrected the child in a flash. “We came here after buying you clothes. Change into these. And wash the ones you wore!”

For some reason, the kids were slightly dirty again. Just how and where do they manage to become so dirty so quickly!?

I washed them thoroughly just yesterday!

“””””Okaaay.”””””

The kids chose their clothes while chattering and squealing. Since we also bought them underwear, it should last for the present.

…At that point someone looking like a priest showed up.

He bowed deeply at us, “I heard about you from the children. Not only did you wash them, but you also allowed them to eat lots…”

“I was running a stall, so we had plenty of food anyway. No need to mind it. …Still, why were they so dirty? I washed them because I dread filthiness. Just what did they do to become like that?”

The priest was dirty too!

Why!? It’s my first time to see such a dirty priest!

I clung to Sword, trembling all over. Filthiness is scary.

“…Umm, as a matter of fact, we moved to a new place just recently. That place has been quite dirty…”

“I got it,” I nodded generously.

Sword sighed as if already knowing where this was going.

“First we’ll build a washing place over there. All of you, you’ll clean yourself there! Meanwhile I’ll clean up that dirty place of yours!”

The clothes selection has been temporarily suspended!

I got them to carry out the food and everything they didn’t want to get washed …Yeah, okay, they got like nothing.

Sword created the washing place and then instructed the children and the priest to wash themselves.

Since I was scared of dirtiness, I didn’t look inside the building and simply applied Disinfection and Cleaning on the whole building.

Since you could hear rattling from all over, Mr. Priest became startled, but Sword calmed him, “It’s alright. You see, that girl’s a crazy clean-freak and great sorceress. She’s always doin’ this as soon as we rent a new place, so it’s nothin’ you need to worry ’bout.”

The filth that was flushed out after I finished the cleaning looked like a clump of sludge, so I dug a hole and buried it within.

But seriously, they did well to be able to live in such a dirty place. I’d even be scared of opening the door!

Once I became teary from just the imagination, Sword stroked my head, “You did great. Well done to have endured the tears and cleaned the whole place up. I thought that you might destroy the whole buildin’ and bury it in a fit of cryin’, if things didn’t go well.”

Yeah, I really wanted to do just that…
