Lady Indra finally came back when the sun had gone down outside. Her skin looked so glossy that it almost seemed to shine, but…I wonder, just what did she do out there?

“I’m back! No need to worry about that guy anymore! I gave him proper training! I doubt you’ll ever see him again, but in case you do run across him, I made sure that he’s going to prostrate in front of you and keep apologizing by slamming his head against the ground!”

…….

Once again Lady Indra had said something that invited me to believe that I misheard.

Sir Sword pulled a very ambiguous expression.

“…You’ve apparently had your fun. That’s all that matters. But, you didn’t kill him, did you?”

“Of course not! He’s perfectly fine with his body having not a single scratch on it! In the beginning, we played “Tag” with me being the hunter and him the bandit, but midway he stopped moving all of a sudden and flopped down. I considered killing him since he was kind of boring, but then I remembered my promise of properly disciplining him, so I started training him right away! Yep! The result was quite good! Indra learned how to condition!”

Lady Indra clenched her fist and pumped it into the air. Meanwhile, Sir Sword placed a hand on his forehead.

“……It’s the outcome of a deal between you n’ Ben, and it looks like you had a blast, too. Haaah….oh well, whatever. Ben, your happy with this as well?”

After muttering that first part to himself, Sir Sword asked my brother at the end.

My brother shrugged his shoulders, “I’d see no point in exploiting some guy who’s got no money to speak of, so I don’t mind Lady Indra handling him as she pleases. Especially if it allows her to develop something that can be sold later on instead, you see? While at it, I simply suggested that it’d be a huge help, if Lady Indra could discipline him so that he’d never approach Pumilla again. Otherwise, this whole ordeal would have been nothing but a big waste of time for me. I’m a merchant, so I simply pawned off a commodity, which didn’t seem like it’d turn into any profit, to someone who was willing to buy it off me in an attempt to keep the losses as low as possible.”

Him saying so caused Sir Sword to become speechless.

Lady Indra looked up to Sir Sword, drew close, and clung to him.

“Sword, don’t pull such a face. That guy not only violated a contract, he even tried to hurt Bennyboy’s cherished sister a second time, you know? There’s no way Bennyboy could have afforded to show mercy to such a sleazebag. It’s the same as with your attempt to slay my sister. Bennyboy sold him off to me as merchant-like revenge and I bought him at a high price. This is what you’d call a win-win situation.”

Sword blinked while staring at Lady Indra, and then smiled wryly.

“Hmm, I guess you got a point. After all, it’d be a bummer if her feelings got injured again.”

……Well, it’s certainly just as Sir Sword says. Back when we worked together, I considered him to be the coolest guy among the towns in the region. And I also thought that he’s dreamy as he was much calmer and quieter than my talkative brother.

――However, after I left that town because of all that happened and arrived at the capital, I was placed in an environment overflowing with men of suitable age being all around me. Kind men and gentlemen, who are much more handsome than him, can be found in great numbers among our customers, and even among our staff.

This might have widened my view.

Moreover, I’ve been on the receiving end of a constant stream of marriage proposals, although most are likely for the sake of getting a hand on this store.

Tommy, as I saw him in the capital, was nothing special besides a tourist who came from the countryside, and his wife…the woman, who embraced such a strong inferiority complex, was just a fat woman who acted like a bigshot out in the sticks.

Noble women seem to put in quite some effort into their looks. Even while clearly emphasizing their chests, they look slim otherwise. Moreover, the capital is full of dangers because all sorts of people gather here, and since there also had been attacks by demonkin in the past, most of the women have interest in the art of self-defense, too.

I also started to take lessons. Moreover, as someone who got used to seeing such women, his wife was a woman that made me feel like saying, 『How about working out a bit?』, although it was none of my concern what she did with her life.

If things didn’t play out like that, I might have spent every day in depression and pain, wishing to die. I might have clung to Tommy’s words while crying. But, I spend my days writing replies to the letters which are being delivered to us everyday while entertaining nobles and rich people.

Some guy from the past doesn’t matter at all. He’s of absolutely no use when it comes to writing letters.

――Ah, but, if he was able to write appropriate replies in a nice hand-writing, he might have swayed my heart quite a bit. No, I might have taken his hands, and told him to go our best together. But, since this was next to impossible anyway, his words and actions didn’t sway my feelings in the slightest.

…In the first place, if my brother hadn’t been so successful, Tommy most likely wouldn’t have tried to seduce me.

All those thoughts allowed me to make a clean cut.

Yep, a huge pile of letters is waiting for me over there, so I don’t have any time to immerse myself in sentimental feelings.

But, there’s something I must tell my brother, no matter what.

“Brother, sorry for causing you trouble. And thank you for worrying about me. But, if you’re going to be so considerate of me that you cancel your stocking run, it shouldn’t be for the sake of putting restraints on a guy who would have been arrested by the guards at some point anyway! It should have been for the sake of increasing the personnel working at correspondence! If Tommy’s writing had been beautiful with his sentences being able to impress nobles, I’d have taken his hands and worked together with him, even if you were against it, you know!? If you hate that idea, then recruit new personnel to write letters!! At once!!!”

Everyone present blinked their eyes in surprise. My brother squirmed around while looking awfully troubled.

“……W-Well, I’ve been looking, you see? But, as soon as you set the condition of new employees having to be able to write proper sentences in a neat writing style, you won’t find almost any folks, unless they’re nobles… I discovered someone talented, so I got them to read and write a reply to a letter I showed them as an example, okay? But! This guy couldn’t write properly either! So, Pumilla, sorry, but I’d like you to do your best for a little while longer…”

My brother’s voice, as he saw the outer corners of my eyes going up, kept growing weaker towards the end.

The one making my anger worse right now isn’t Tommy. It’s my brother!!!
