My brother came to a halt and turned around to face Tommy. Meanwhile, Tommy tried to casually position himself next to me, but I hurried over to my brother’s side.
The place where I belong is here.
Baroque positioned herself on my other side while Lady Indra and Sir Sword stood behind Tommy.
*
For a moment, Tommy averted his face with an awkward expression, but then he fixed his eyes on my brother again and flatly declared, “…We will apologize to you, so cancel our agreement.”
He’s quite ballsy, I must admit. You can’t sense a shred of apology from his apology. Rather, his words were brimming with a condescending attitude.
Given that he didn’t even use polite speech, I sure want to know just how much he’s looking down on us. My brother sneered at him. Although he’s clearly angry here.
“Haah? Before any of that, what do you plan to do to settle your contract violation by coming here while our written terms are in effect? Also, you talk about apologizing, but what’s the plan here? You’re certainly not going to say that looking down on us with a big attitude counts as an apology, are you!?” My brother roared.
Oh, Lady Indra and Sir Sword got startled. And after getting surprised simultaneously, they looked at each other at the same time, too.
Please stop it. You’re going to make me laugh, although it’s not appropriate right now, you know?”
*
“C-Calm down. That wasn’t my intention. However, I came here since I can’t apologize without us meeting. I’ll apologize for violating our agreement, so please overlook this.”
“Huh? Are you dumb or something?” My brother shot back.
Being called dumb, Tommy’s expression changed.
“I’ve been tellin’ ye, is that any attitude when yer apologizin’ to people!? Who do ye think ye are to talk to me like we’re buddies, ye lil’ piece of bumpkin trash!? Scum like ye ain’t even at the level of bein’ allowed to lick my boots anymore. I don’t need any of yer apologies, so get fuckin’ lost!”
Tommy clenched his fist, enduring his frustration. But, I can understand. It has to be upsetting to be talked down like that by someone you believed to be below you.
My brother lifted his head and added with a quiet voice and a face showing his hatred of Tommy, “I have already considered your punishment for breaking the contract. I asked Lady Indra of the S-Rank adventurer party 【Allrounders】 as debt collector. You’re finished, so never appear in front of us ever again.”
Eh!? Lady Indra is going to collect the debt? I wonder what sort of debt she’s going to collect…I’m kind of curious, but I also feel that it’S better not to ask.
…As I thought that, Tommy suddenly looked at me.
“Pumilla, I love you. Please marry me.”
Everyone froze.
I couldn’t quite believe that utterly stupid line, so I muttered in a daze, “……Did I just mishear? Somehow I feel like I was told something unbelievable just now.”
Tommy woefully appealed to me, “You didn’t mishear! Pumilla, I was wrong. I was tricked by that woman. Our whole family was tricked by that woman and her father. Those people reap what they sowed, but I’m the victim here. Pumilla, I love you. I separated from that woman, so please marry me.”
……Ah, so basically he discarded her, huh? That’s why she didn’t show up in front of the store anymore, I suppose.
Everyone is looking at me. Right. It was such a dumb thing to say that I became somewhat dumbstruck, but I must answer him properly.
I pulled myself together, got my breathing in order, and told him, “No, thanks.”
“Pumilla!”
Tommy tried to head towards me while calling my name, but then he suddenly stopped. It’s because Sir Sword had drawn his sword, moved in front of me, and thrust the point of his blade in front of Tommy’s nose in an instant.
“Hmm…I considered lopping off his legs so that he wouldn’t be able to get close to her anymore, but Sword beat me to the punch…”
Lady Indra, please don’t say such disturbing things with such a sad voice.
*
Tommy’s heated emotions apparently cooled down at once. He retreated while swallowing hard.
I turned him down clearly while knitting my eyebrows, “Please stay away from me. …I won’t marry you. It would just trouble my brother.”
In response, Tommy’s emotions surged again and he loudly entreated me, “Pumilla! Don’t go with the flow! Didn’t you love me!? We should have married if things had proceeded well!”
“Things did proceed well for you, seeing how you switched to another woman and married her, no?” Lady Indra retorted calmly.
Tommy was at a loss how to answer, but then he apparently decided to ignore that comment. While ignoring Lady Indra, he continued, “But, we were torn apart! Luckily, the obstacle is now gone! Pumilla! You will marry me!”
………
Wow, he honestly changed his entreaty into an order.
Seriously……what a pain in the ass he is. I’m truly disgusted with him.
Once I sighed, Lady Indra, who had been looking back and forth between Tommy and me, spoke up.
“Damsel Pumilla, wouldn’t it be better to make it a lot clearer for him? Since you have been showing him openings, this man has been stalking you. I think you ought to cancel your relationship by properly telling him your feelings. Otherwise, it’d be pitiable for Bennyboy who stopped his restocking trip and even contacted us out of concern for you, don’t you think?”
Taken aback by Lady Indra’s calm explanation, I looked at my brother. My brother returned that look.
“……Pumilla, it’s okay for you to tell him what you think. I’m a guy who would do anything for his only family…his cherished, little sister.”
*
………Indeed.
My brother has always concerned himself with me. He was a lot more upset about the cancellation of the engagement than I was. He’s been the person taking my happiness into account the most.
…Considering all that, he didn’t increase the number of letter writers though!
Yet, it’s true that I was saved by my brother.
