the gods did not call him the king used magic to summon him as a powerful weapon to help his kingdom the gods form his world gave him some blessings but had no part in him ending up there the god of death in a gravely weakened form [from being cut in half by our MC OP sward witch has the power of 3 gods divine power used on it] is trying to find a way to send him back to his world so he can directly use his power on him. I think the god of death will just get cut in half a second time if he dose find some way of sending him back but that’s just me.

better yet he killed the king and all but one of the royal family from this vary kingdom the public still sees him as their grate summoned hero who is kind and powerful and he has shown that he can rule with his land that surpasses other kingdoms standard of living.
he stands at the point that if he wanted to be king he would be sitting on the throne before they get done burning the dead bodes of the people that tried to stand in his way.
hell he could have formed an empire from the 3 kingdoms he in effect owns right now but that would mean he would not have all the fun of killing lots of people.
